UW Facilities, Project Delivery Group, will be issuing an Advertisement for Bids on approximately mid-May for the Bloedel Second Floor Freezers renovation project. The project scope includes removal of (6) existing and replacement with (2) new walk-in freezer/refrigerators with an approximately project value of $1,150,000.

The University of Washington Facilities (UWF) Project Delivery Group is soliciting Statements of Qualifications (SOQ) from qualified design-build firms to design and construct the UWMC NW B-Wing Roof Replacement project.

Project Description: The B-Wing at UWMC NW contains several vital hospital services including Operating Rooms, and Pre and Post Operatory support spaces, Endoscopy and Pharmacy. The building consists of a single-story wood frame and masonry structure of approximately 35,000 SF constructed in the late 1960’s and has undergone a series of programmatic renovations over the years. The B-Wing does not contain any significant interstitial space and most of the major mechanical and electrical distribution are roof mounted with varied and limited amounts of access between the equipment and the roof surface. This equipment, ductwork, piping, etc. serve as major complicating factors in attempting maintenance, repairs, and replacement of the roof when necessary. The scope of the project is to replace the existing roof while fully maintaining the critical MEP equipment required to maintain critical functioning in the B-Wing. Serviceable conditions for maintenance and repair without significant shutdowns in the future.

The project is 10.2 million. The target budget for all work to be provided under the design-build contract is $8,265,000 million.

Project Description: The project includes the following work: The project includes the following work: The project consists of an approximately 6,300 SF interior remodel of existing clinical, office and shelled space on the first and second floors of UWMC NW A-wing. Work on the first floor includes renovation of existing office spaces in the Cardiac Procedures Unit to provide 4 new perioperative spaces. Work on the second floor includes renovation of existing clinical support areas to add an Interventional Radiology lab and support spaces, a new ultrasound exam room, control room and a new technology distribution room. The buildout of existing shelled spaces includes an EEG exam room, radiology read rooms, office space for clinical staff, staff lounge and patient toilet. Specific tasks include selective demolition, and subsequent installation of new finishes, HVAC, plumbing, lighting, power, data, casework, and associated electrical, mechanical, and structural system updates required to support new equipment. The construction type is 1-A, sprinklered, and the occupancy group is I-2. The project will be completed in five phases.

Pre-Bid Site Meeting: The Project site is available for inspection by prospective bidders at a pre-bid site meeting and walk-through at 6:00 am on Thursday March 21, 2024, at UW Medical Center Northwest (1550 NW 115th Street Seattle WA, 98133). Meet in the A-wing Starbucks Lobby. This will be the only opportunity for bidders to visit the Project site. Access to the project site is restricted.

Description: The project includes the following work: The UW ADA Parking Improvement project is an ongoing initiative to provide accessible parking (compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act requirements) at key locations on campus in response to a Consent Decree imposed on the University of Washington. Phase 3.1 includes improvements at the following parking lots: E08, E16, E97, C15 and C17. Scope includes but is not limited to selective site demolition, pavement removal, regrading, asphalt and concrete paving, stripping, signage installation, drainage upgrades, landscaping and irrigation improvements. The work also includes spot grinding and patching at C17A at a limited area above existing below-grade structure for which an allowance will be provided. All work will be verified by a third-party testing agency under contract with UW, and an additional testing agency under contract with Plaintiff. Substantial completion will be met when work is verified for compliance by Owner’s independent testing agency, and an independent testing agency under contract with Plaintiff, as required by the Consent Decree.
Pre-Bid Site Meeting: The Project site is available for inspection by prospective bidders at a pre-bid site meeting and walk-through at 2:00pm on March 12, 2024. The meeting place will be at Lot E08 and the route will be E08, E97, C15, C17 and E16. Latecomers that arrive more than 15 minutes late may not be accommodated. Due to the distance between sites, please anticipate a combination of walking or cycling/driving and note that parking on campus is very limited.
