Parrington Hall Renovation

Project news

Design: Design options have been reviewed in conjunction with cost models. To date, the 'stacked' plan meets the Evans School programmatic goals and achieves efficiencies with structural and MEP&F routing and replacement. The design 'validation' is set for 9/14/18. MEP subcontractors are contracted and part of the risk-reward team. They are investigating the existing building systems and developing options for servicing the building while meeting the MEP budget targets. Permit: Permit Submission targeted for mid-December 2018. Evans School is scheduled to surge into Condon Hall starting mid-December 2018 and
will stay until construction is complete in early Spring 2020. The surge will allow for detailed investigation of existing conditions prior to construction start and should add to cost and schedule savings.

Project overview

The Parrington Hall project will; (1) Upgrade mechanical, electrical, information technology and lighting systems and modernize Parrington Hall to current University facility educational standards. (2) Create learning environments that support collaboration, active learning, flexibility, and faculty innovation. (3) Create space that fosters student engagement with peers, faculty and staff, and builds academic community. (4) Reflect the school’s commitment to sustainability and stewardship for one of the oldest, most iconic buildings on Seattle campus. (5) Create a building that will be useful well into the future, accommodating emerging campus standards for density.

Timeline

  • Planning: 1/1/2018 - 6/30/2018
  • Design & Bidding: 7/1/2018 - 3/31/2019
  • Construction: 4/1/2019 - 1/31/2020
  • Closeout:  2/1/2020 - 4/30/2020
